North Valley Humane Society
Overview
In this scenario, North Valley Humane Society needed an onboarding training course for new volunteers. Since handling sick, injured, and/or scared animals can be dangerous, NVHS wanted a way for volunteers to become familiar with the needs of animals after various surgeries, treatments, and behavioral training.
Client: North Valley Humane Society
Responsibilities: Instructional design, eLearning development
Tools Used: Articulate Rise
Target Audience: Prospective volunteers of NVHS
Budget: Low
Project Length: 1 month
Year: 2017
instructional design & development
During the first week of this project, I met with various stakeholders to understand their needs and determine learning objectives. Once I had this information, outlining the modules and assessments came next.
The client needed modules on post-surgery care, ring worm infections, bottle feeding kittens, and handling aggressive animals. The course included interactions and assessments along the way.
There were opportunities for learner interaction and engagement in each module. Some examples include the hotspot feature and the matching assessment displayed above. Learners had to pass each module with a score of 90% or more in order to proceed and pass.
Conclusion
I enjoyed this project because I love animals and I felt good about helping a non-profit organization. Articulate Rise was the perfect platform for this client due to their budget and unique learning needs. It offers a sleek look and feel with the engaging functionality that most learners expect from a digital learning experience.
